In order to strengthen the academic decision making and implementation process and to have wider implications to the academic directions of the institution, the following Academic Council is in existence:

The Chairperson can invite any expert to the Council as he deems fit.
The Functions of the Council:
- To develop policies and general guidelines regarding the conduct of academic activities including teaching, training, research, and consultancy.
- To recommend strategies and guidelines for national and international collaborations.
- To recommend broad framework under which specific curriculum and syllabi could be formulated while introducing new academic programs.
- To make periodic review of the institute’s academic activities and to make recommendations.
- Make regulations regarding the admission of students to different programmes of study in the college.
- Recommend to the governing body proposals with or without modification of Board of Studies.
- Scrutinize and approve the proposals with or without modification of the board of studies with regard to courses of study, academic regulations, curricula, syllabi and modifications thereof, instructional and evaluation arrangement, methods, procedures relevant thereto etc. provided that where the Academic Council differs on any proposal, it will have the right to return the matter for reconsideration to the board of studies concerned or reject it, after giving reasons to do so Academic Council.
Meeting of the Academic Council:
- The Academic Council shall ordinarily meet once in a year. If necessary, the Chairperson, or
the Vice-Chairperson in the absence of Chairperson, may call for a special meeting to discuss
the specific issue/agenda. - One third members of the Academic Council shall form a quorum for a meeting of the
Tenure of the Academic Council:
- The tenure of the Council will be for two years.
